FreeZone "North meets South" Cappadocia Tour

As the name suggests, the FreeZone NORTH MEETS SOUTH TOUR gives you a fabulous chance to sample a bit of everything that the region of Cappadocia has to offer.

Your full-day tour begins around 9.30am when you will be collected at your hotel by our fully-qualified & licensed local guide.

Once we are on our way the first stop is on the road to Ürgüp, where we take time to enjoy The 3 Beauties, a unique set of fairy chimneys. There is a legend which surrounds the creation of this rock formation, but we will let your guide explain this to you when you are there. (the “fairytale” is for the enjoyment of children and adults alike)

Next stop is the town of Mustafapaşa. Once the largest Greek town in Cappadocia, Mustafapaşa is now a bustling Turkish community but still boasts some of the finest Ottoman architecture in the region. Here you will enjoy visiting many churches including the monastry of St Nicholas, or Santa Claus as he later became known.

We leave Mustafapaşa and head to the archeological site of Sobesos, an ancient Roman city dating back to the 4th century. This historical find houses some of the finest complete mosaics to be discovered anywhere in Turkey. Archeologists are still actively working here and are regularly uncovering new “finds” within the site. You may be lucky and witness a piece of history being made during your visit here.

We then travel to Soganli Valley. Due to its location, Soganli Valley is one of the least visited in Cappadocia, but it is certainly one of the most beautiful and interesting. Spanning some 24km and once the home to more than 50 individual churches, here you will enjoy a walk through the countless cave dwellings, churches and pigeon houses dating back to the 9th Century. It is here in Sognali Valley where you will enjoy your delicious lunch.

After lunch we head further South to Derinkuyu, the largest and certainly the most impressive of all of the underground cities in Cappadocia. With tunnels accessing some 60 metres underground, Derinkuyu once housed a population of around 20,000 people, complete with livestock, water and enough provisons to allow them to survive safely underground for months in the event of an attack on their peaceful community.

Now it is time to head back to Northern Cappadocia where we will stop at Uçhisar Castle, the highest castle in Cappadocia. Here you will enjoy the fantastic panoramic views which this “rock” offers to all of its visitors.

After a full and extremely enjoyable day travelling throughout Cappadocia, what better way to end the day than sampling some of the delicıous fruit wines which the region is famed for? With this in mind our final stop is at a local winery, where you can enjoy “testing” the many wines available.

We then return you to your hotel at around 6.00pm to allow you to enjoy the remainder of your evening (maybe taking some time to complete your day by relaxing in a traditional Turkish Bath which we will be delighted to arrange for you)
